Our Global Mining team consists of more than 40 professionals with a range of backgrounds in geology, engineering, law and finance. In addition to mining industry expertise, our professionals have extensive M&A, valuation and fairness opinion experience.
We are a global leader in mining M&A advisory, equity underwriting and project financings. We have completed assignments for mining companies in North and South America, Australia, Europe, Asia and Africa, and have led many of the industry's largest gold and base metals equity transactions, including Placer Dome (USD$468 million), Noranda (CAD$614 million) and Centerra (CAD$282 million). We have also played integral lead advisory roles in some of the largest mergers and acquisition deals, including: Rio Tinto/Alcan (USD$44.0 billion), Xstrata/Falconbridge (CAD$27.0 billion), Barrick/Placer Dome (USD$10.7 billion), Goldcorp/Glamis (USD$8.5 billion), Noranda/Falconbridge (CAD$4.5 billion), Teck Cominco/Aur (CAD$4.1 billion), Katanga/Nikanor (USD$2.1 billion) and AngloGold/Ashanti (USD$1.7 billion).
Because of our reputable in-house technical mining expertise, we are often called upon to fill the Technical Agent role in project finance. We have been a lead arranger on some of the largest mining project financings including those for the Antamina, Alumbrera, Collahuasi, Bulyanhulu, Diavik, Las Cruces, Mina Justa and Quebrada Blanca mines.
