Scott Wilson

Managing Director, Head of European Region, CIBC World Markets plc.

Scott Wilson is Managing Director and Head of CIBC’s European Region, which includes responsibilities as Chief Executive of the London Branch and all CIBC World Markets plc. operations across Europe.

Scott began his career in law in 1991, working for law firms in Washington, D.C. He later joined Bear Stearns in New York and Hong Kong as a legal and regulatory advisor to the Emerging Markets division. In 1998, he joined CIBC as Vice President & Counsel, Head of Legal and Compliance for the Asia-Pacific region. The European region was added to these responsibilities in 2007. He assumed his current role in June 2008.

Scott earned a BA from the University of California in 1986, and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 1991. He studied China’s economic reform, international trade and contract laws at Johns Hopkins-Nanjing University Centre for China-U.S. studies as a visiting scholar in 1991. In 2004, Scott received an MBA issued jointly by Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.

Scott is a member of CIBC's Wholesale Banking Management Committee as well as Chairman of the European Management Committee. He sits on the Board of Directors of several CIBC European and Asian subsidiaries and related joint ventures.

In addition, Scott is Co-founder and Director of the United Kingdom branch of Seacology, an international environmental and development nonprofit organization that focuses on saving endangered species, habitats and cultures of islands throughout the world. He is also a member of the California Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association.
